Many states have passed bills to create educational outreach programs for their citizens but almost none have done so. The EARN Project is filling that gap.

The answer to preventing elder abuse lies in an informed public learning how to protect themselves and using their influence on their elected representatives to draft laws that institute heavy penalties for this abuse and discourage potential abusers.

Too many people believe this sort of abuse is something that happens to other people but they, for one reason or another, are not vulnerable. They are wrong—we are all, from the person living on nothing more than social security to those with many millions and The Earn Projects mission is to make sure everyone knows that. We also provide legal information (not advice) and guidance for people who do not know what their rights are or where to go to find help.

A DVD of the documentary The Unforgivable Truth.

An information booklet explaining all Financial Elder Abuse and Guardianship laws in the state where the workshop is being held;  local help, reporting, and information phone numbers and website addresses — all  pertinent information on Financial Elder Abuse and Guardianships that is necessary to the public’s understanding of how to try and protect themselves in advance, or what to do if they feel someone they care for is being abused or caught up in inappropriate guardianship — an explanation of deficiencies in their existing state laws — contact names, addresses, and telephone numbers of those who are in the best position to make changes to these laws.

We have wonderful volunteers and Mrs. de Lobo, who takes no salary, has one part time assistant. A legal researcher working 1 day a week with Westlaw keeps us up-to-date on bills and legal cases for our information bank, and to provide the latest information to writers doing articles for The Silver Standard.

We maintain a “Breaking News” section on our website covering every state

Work on the website and Silver Standard, is contracted on a freelance basis
